17th GAVRANFEST IN MUNICH

The 17th GavranFest, an international theatre festival dedicated to Miro Gavran, will take place from November 12 to 15, 2026, at Team Theater in Munich.

This year's festival will bring together theatre companies from Germany and Croatia, presenting five productions based on Gavran's plays over four days. The programme includes dramas and comedies for adult audiences, as well as a puppet show for younger theatregoers.

Following the official opening ceremony on Thursday, November 12, the festival will begin with “The Doll” (Die Puppe), performed by Hoftheater from Dresden.

On Friday, November 13, audiences will have the opportunity to enjoy the comedy “Henpecked Husbands” (Pantoffelhelden), performed by Teatar GAVRAN from Zagreb, with German surtitles.

The programme on Saturday, November 14, features two performances. In the morning, Teatar GAVRAN from Zagreb will present the puppet show “Little Eco Bunny Looks for His Mother” (Der kleine Hase sucht seine Mama), intended for children aged three to nine. The evening performance will feature the drama “Dr. Freud's Patient” (Der Patient des Dr. Freud), presented by Munich Theater Art – WüstTheaterensemble.

The festival will officially close on Sunday, November 15, with a performance of “Creon's Antigone” (Kreons Antigone), produced by Sensemble Theater from Augsburg.

GavranFest was founded in 2003 at the Ján Palárik Theatre in Trnava, Slovakia. Miro Gavran is the only living European playwright to have a theatre festival dedicated to his work outside his country of birth. Over the years, the festival has been held in Slovakia (four editions), the Czech Republic (eight editions), Poland (one edition), Germany (three editions), and Serbia (one edition), bringing together theatre artists from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

This year's festival is organized by Hrvatska kuća München (Croatian House Munich), with Dr. Neda Caktaš and Dragan Čotić serving as producers.

The 17th GavranFest once again highlights the international recognition of Gavran's dramatic works and their ability to connect theatre artists and audiences across languages and cultures.
