"Lonely" (Samoća) Continues Its Successful American Film Festival Tour

The film Lonely, based on a short story by Miro Gavran, continues its successful festival journey across the United States during January and February 2026.

Following earlier festival screenings, the film will have new screenings at three prestigious American film festivals – in Louisiana, South Carolina, and Arizona. The film has been selected for the Cinema On The Bayou Film Festival, where it will be screened on January 24, 2026, followed by the Beaufort International Film Festival on February 18, and the Sedona International Film Festival, where two screenings are scheduled for late February.

The leading roles are played by Duško Valentić and Sven Jakir, while the film is directed by Bobby Boško Grubić.

Lonely is an intimate and visually refined story about an elderly man and the quiet decisions that shape the final chapter of a life. The cast also includes Goran Grgić, Petra Kurtela, Jakov Gavran, and Mladena Gavran.

The film was shot at authentic locations in Međimurje, including Čakovec County Hospital, the city park, and the banks of the Mura River near Novakovec. The production was led by MAG Production in collaboration with minority co-producer Artonix Studios from the United States, while post-production involved The Platform Group from Los Angeles and Longplay Studios from Zagreb. The cinematographer is Ivan Zadro.

So far, the film has been presented at Croatian premieres in Zagreb, Vukovar, Hvar, Sisak, and Šibenik, while internationally it has been screened in Paris, Rome, Sofia, Bengaluru, Dubai, San Diego, San Pedro, and other cities.

During its festival run, the film has received several awards, including Best Screenplay at AsterFest in North Macedonia, Best Short Film and Best Sound at the Bihać Avant & Una Film Festival, as well as another Best Screenplay award at CIFF Šibenik – Didovo oko.

The premiere screenings at the American festivals will take place in late January and throughout February 2026 in Louisiana, South Carolina, and Arizona.
