Next Wednesday, January 29, the Echo Teatrum in Budapest, Hungary, will host the premiere of "The Doll", a comedy by renowned playwright Miro Gavran. Translated into Hungarian by Ivan Varga and Viktoria Varga, the play is directed by Adrienn Pisky, featuring Rossu Timea Natasa and Venyercsan Peter in the lead roles. This witty and thought-provoking comedy follows the story of a 39-year-old man, abandoned by his girlfriend, who begins living with a humanoid android designed by scientist Barbara. Through humorous situations, the protagonist confronts his flaws, offering the audience a deeper reflection on poor treatment of women and the misunderstandings men often have in relationships. In a rapidly advancing technological world, The Doll explores the boundaries between humanity and technology. Having been staged in over 30 productions worldwide—from New York and Los Angeles to Vienna, Zagreb, Mumbai, and Sydney—The Doll continues to resonate globally. It was also featured in the Anthology of Eastern European Drama published in Shanghai, curated by esteemed theater critic Kalina Stefanova.
